PCWA Professional Development Events

Each year, PCWA hosts a professional development event, typically in the fall.  The date and theme for the 2021 event is yet to be determined, but you won't want to miss it!  Watch our newsletter for an announcement in the coming months.

If you have a speaker suggestion for our next professional development event, please reach out to our Professional Development Co-Chairs, Kacy Flaherty-Tarpey (kacy.flaherty-tarpey@dentons.com) and Madison Fiedler-Carlson (madison@employmentlawiowa.com).

Past Professional Development Events

2021 Professional Development Event:  Attorney Wellness Ethics

How does a lawyer's personal wellness connect to their ethical obligations as an attorney?  Our virtual professional development event in 2021 featured a thought-provoking presentation addressing this question by local attorney and mental health advocate Tyler Coe.  The presentation was approved for 1 hour of Iowa CLE credit relevant to attorney wellness.

2020 Professional Development Event:  Increase Your Impact

PCWA and Iowa Women in Architecture (iaWia) partnered to present a panel to help us better understand need in our community and illuminate actions we can take to give back and support it.  The event featured speakers from several organizations, including Emily Osweiler from the YMCA, Clara Bergan from Habitat for Humanity, and Susan Rathjen from Goodwill of Central Iowa.

PCWA is currently following CDC guidelines during in-person events.

By attending a PCWA event in person, you agree to abide by applicable current CDC guidelines and any masking protocol requested by the hosting venue for the duration of the event, taking into account your current vaccination status and the indoor/outdoor nature of the event.
